Faith can be invested in the wrong place. The worshippers of Baal learned this the hard way. No one would ever question their faith in Baal. Their faith remained steadfast even when he would not answer them. The trouble was not faith itself, but in what they had faith in.
Still today, we want to ensure that our faith is invested in the right place. Our culture is saturated with various religious beliefs. This leads to much confusion for the one searching for truth amid all the religious chaos. If we are to ensure our belief is in the right things, there are a couple of aspects to consider.
Faith in the Word of God.
Paul tells us that our faith comes by hearing and hearing is by the word of God (Romans 10:17). He taught young Timothy that the Scriptures were all given by the inspiration (God-Breathed) of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). These are two scriptures that reveal the trustworthiness of the Scriptures.
Trustworthiness is not limited to these passages alone. We also find verification of the word of God through scientific foreknowledge, the fulfillments of prophecies, and the archaeological findings. All of these validates the Bible as the authentic word of Almighty God. When we invest our faith in God’s word, we can be certain that it is invested in the right place.
Faith in the Promises of God.
When it comes to properly investing our faith, we would be amiss if we overlooked the promises of God. In fact, there has never been a promised made by God that He did not keep. In the book of Joshua we read, “Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” (Joshua 21:45)
The fact that God keeps all His promises gives us great assurance that our faith in Him and His word is in the right place. We know that when we follow His word it will lead us to life everlasting. Jesus gave us the promise Himself when He said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)
Certainly, there are numerous things that compete for our faith. However, when we look at the facts, we know that investing our faith in God is the right choice. As we live our lives as Christians, let us not only hold to our faith, but continually grow in our faith every day.
God Bless each of you,
